Internal Service Engineer / PDI Engineer – Dugard Head Office, Hove, BN3 7BX

The Internal Service Engineer role is integral to our head office team as you will be responsible for pre-delivery inspections on a wide range of our CNC machine tools to check they are up to the correct specification to be delivered to the customer. You may be required to retro-fit optional extras (eg coolant systems or 4th axis units) as well as diagnose electrical and mechanical faults. You will need to be competent at completing handwritten and digital documentation for the machine delivery and ensure the machines and showroom are clean and ready for customer visits.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Reporting to the Operations Manager/Technical Director
- Carry out pre-delivery inspections on new CNC machine tools to check machines are to specification and all details match the works order
- Retro fitment of optional extras i.e., coolant systems/4th axis
- Diagnosis of electrical and mechanical faults
- Comply with company and customer health and safety policies
- Ensuring machines and showroom are clean and ready for visitors
- Completing handwritten and computerised documentation
- Occasional site work which may include overnight stays
Required Skills
- Preferred time served mechanical/electrical/precision engineer but we would also consider applicants with basic skills who are willing to learn
- Experience with Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain, Mitsubishi control systems would be an advantage
- Power and control wiring
- Pneumatic experience
- Hydraulics experience
- Good diagnostics skills
- Keen eye for detail
- Computer literate
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Forklift and overhead crane experience would be an advantage
- Self-Motivated
Package
- 40 hours / week basic plus overtime as required
- Pay is negotiable depending on experience
